Since April 2020, Canadians have worked from home in varying degrees. Between April 2020 and June 2021, 45 percent of dual-earner salaried couples in the top 10% of the earnings distribution worked from home both spouses.
This was nine times higher than the 5% rate seen among their peers in the bottom 10% of the earnings distribution. The higher proclivity of high-income families to work from home is mainly because these couples’ jobs are more telework-friendly than those of lower-income couples.
